About CKA - History
The Canadian Kinesiology Alliance/Alliance Canadienne de Kinésiologie (CKA/ ACK) steering committee was formed in 1995. Over the following six years, this steering committee gained support from provincial associations for the development of a national alliance. The CKA/ ACK was federally incorporated in 2001 as a not-for-profit corporation.
As of January 1, 2007, the CKA membership will be comprised of all members of provincial kinesiology associations recognized by the CKA/ACK. The provincial association members contribute a portion of their annual fee for the CKA/ACK, which is paid directly to their provincial association and then transferred from the provincial association to the CKA/ACK.
A voluntary Board of Directors directs the CKA/ACK. These representatives are elected by the provincial kinesiology association members annually or biennially depending on term and position held. Fletcher Wright Associates is the CKA/ ACK management company, which provides the day-to-day administrative support along with other association management services.
