1) How do I become a member of the CKA/ACK?
As a member of a provincial kinesiology association you are automatically a member of the CKA/ACK. In provinces where a Provincial Kinesiology Association does not yet exist, you may apply directly to the CKA/ACK for membership, please see question 2 (below).

2) I live in a province that does not currently have a provincial kinesiology association, how do I become a member?
By the end of 2008 you will be able to apply directly to the CKA/ACK if you do not reside in a province or territory where there is a recognized kinesiology provincial association. If you join the CKA/ACK directly you will be connected to members within your province and you will receive the CKA/ACK quarterly newsletter- the Kinadian and; the biennial Canadian Journal of Kinesiology.

3) I reside in a province that does not currently have a provincial kinesiology association and would like to assist in developing a provincial kinesiology association. How do I do that?

4) What are the academic requirements to become a Certified/Registered or Professional Kinesiologist?
Currently each provincial kinesiology association is responsible for establishing the membership requirements to be recognized in the province. These are based on established National standard of core competencies. 5) What is the difference between a Registered, Certified, or Professional Kinesiologist?
All of these designations represent the individual provincial certification for Kinesiologists across Canada. They represent a standard of education, competencies, knowledge and care consistent with established standards. There are currently very minor differences in membership criteria between provinces across Canada due to provincial health legislation and regional needs; and essentially each of these professional titles are the same. All of the provincial kinesiology associations a mandatory malpractice insurance program, code of ethics/standards and hearing and appeals/complaints and disciplinary programs set up for their members to protect the general public.


6) What are the benefits of membership in a provincial kinesiology association and the CKA/ACK?
All Certified, Registered or Professional Kinesiologist membership includes professional liability insurance. In addition, members receive access to Commercial General Liability Insurance, quarterly editions of the Kinadian, biannual editions of the Canadian Journal of Kinesiology, and additional benefits vary depending on the provincial organization. The CKA/ACK represents and promotes the professional standard of Kinesiology across Canada.
