REQUIREMENTS FOR KINESIOLOGISTS

The kinesiologist affiliation is open to individuals who are practising kinesiology and:

• who has graduated from an academic 4-year program in the field of kinesiology, human kinetics, physical activity and exercise science approved by the Board;
• who can prove having been train in the required competencies and standards;
• who also carries membership from a CKA recognized provincial kinesiology association, and;
• who has successfully completed any examinations and other requirements as recognized by the Board;
• is employed and/or practices in kinesiology, or who wishes to become so employed or practicing, and
• meets the continuing education requirements,
• accepts and signs to comply with the code of ethics
• carries professional liability insurance for kinesiology practice (entire scope of kinesiology)

Individual known as Professional Kinesiologist, who practices kinesiology, has achieved academic standards (a 4 year university degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Physical Activity studies or another Kinesiology-based program); have a successfully completed an examination process, if applicable; meets the continuing education requirements; complies with the code of ethics and carries proper professional liability insurance for kinesiology practice. The Professional may hold another current certification such as CSEP, ACSM or NSCA. (not mandatory)

• are researchers or academics in the field of kinesiology or
• are, or were, employed as a professor/lecturer or faculty member of a post-secondary educational institution in Canada that is recognized by the Board, in a faculty or department that offers courses in kinesiology, human kinetics and related subjects
• accepts and signs to comply with the code of ethics
• carries professional liability insurance

The student affiliation is open to students who have successfully completed at least two years of an undergraduate program in the field of kinesiology, human kinetics, physical activity and exercise science.

Choose this category if you are currently a student having completed at least two years of undergraduate degree in Manitoba.

Manitoba Kinesiology Association student memberships are free. 

Student membership requirements

Individuals currently enrolled in full-time or part-time Kinesiology/Exercise science studies in a post-secondary institution recognized by the MKA and who wishes to be informed or take part in the activities of the MKA.

The student membership is open to students who have successfully completed at least two years of an undergraduate program in the field of kinesiology, human kinetics, physical activity and exercise science.

Choose this category if you are currently a student having completed at least two years of undergraduate degree in Nova Scotia. The Kinesiology Association of Nova Scotia membership for students is free.

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS

The student membership is open to students who have successfully completed at least two-year of undergrad program in the field of kinesiology, human kinetics, physical activity and exercise science.

Choose this category if you are currently a student having completed at least two years of an undergraduate degree in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Newfoundland and Labrador Kinesiology Association membership for students is free.

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS

The student affiliation is open to students who have successfully completed at least two years of undergraduate program in the field of kinesiology, human kinetics, physical activity and exercise science.

Choose this category if you are currently an academic in Saskatchewan.

any individual who is currently employed by a post-secondary institution in a teaching and/or research capacity and wishes to be informed and/or take part in the activities of KAS and does not practice kinesiology, that is, performing acts outside from its current employment.

Your Academic membership applies only in Saskatchewan for KAS membership and is valid until you return to work, return to practice, at which point you must apply for a professional member (kinesiologist).

Choose this category if you are an associate member in Saskatchewan.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERS

an individual who has a university degree or college diploma of 4 years in kinesiology, physical education, physical activity studies or another kinesiology-based program, who is not currently employed or engaged in the practice of kinesiology, who meets the requirements of Professional Membership and has no intention of practicing for the duration of the year, however still wishes to be kept informed and take part in the activities of KAS. This category may also include those individuals who have other certifications.
