Message from the President

This past year has shown us how to be adaptable, overcome challenges and how to generate creative solutions we have never considered before.

Our focus continues to be on supporting our PKAs, to offer resources and collaborations and to promote and advocate for the profession of Kinesiology across the country. Through these collaborations, we were able to host the first Kin Can Virtual Conference in the fall and introduce the first annual Kinesiology Awards. This endeavour was merely just a dream a few years ago, but we made it happen! We look forward to continuing the tradition of hosting a virtual conference and awards on a yearly basis.

I’d like to offer my gratitude to all of the amazing people who have contributed to the Board of Directors. Your efforts and work are appreciated, and I am thankful for your sharing and insights. I’d also like to recognize the contributions of members and volunteers that stepped up and provided valuable input and feedback in various projects.

We have some new contributors to welcome – Jaime Glassman and Kayla Rector, to our Board of Directors. We are excited to work towards some exciting initiatives this next year. Kinesiologists are uniquely positioned to help the Canadian population recover from the tolls of the Covid-19 pandemic. The CKA will be at the forefront to ensure Canadians, partners, and universities are aware of how vital the role of a Kinesiologist is in health care in Canada. Thank you to our sponsors, PKAs, and affiliated partners for your endless support.

The CKA is continually adapting to meet the needs of our ever-growing profession. We look forward to a year of inclusion, welcoming diversity, and supporting Kinesiologists in their careers. We will strive to continue to be the voice of Kinesiologists across Canada and will proudly advocate for all Kinesiologists.

Best,

Kathie Sharkey RKin, CKA President
