
The Kin Can Conference offers the chance for members of Provincial Kinesiology Associations to earn continuing education credits towards their credits required for membership.
CKA allows Provincial Kinesiology Association members to earn 1 credit per hour, up to 10 credits for the entire conference (10 sessions total). Continuing education requirements may vary by province, so make sure you check with your provincial association.
Yes, recordings will be provided to registrants after the conference, and it is expected that you listen to all recordings in order to earn credits for the conference. You can, however, still earn credits for these hours. Non-registrants will not receive access to any recordings.
Yes, every participant will receive a certificate of participation from the CKA after the conference.
Yes, Kin Can sessions will be recorded, and unless a speaker has indicated otherwise, all session recordings will be shared with conference registrants. Recorded sessions will not be made available to all members or the public. You have to have registered and paid for Kin Can Conference registration to access the recordings. Links to the recorded sessions will be shared with registrants after the conference.
If you have registered for the conference you will receive your certificate of attendance via email the week after the conference.
An evaluation will be sent to all attendees after the sessions wrap on Sunday, November 2, which all participants are encouraged to fill out and submit.
You can earn credits for watching the recordings if you are unable to attend live. It is encouraged, if you are able, to attend the sessions live in order to participate in Q&As and other live interaction with session presenters.

Stephanie-May est professeure titulaire à l’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières depuis 2014. Elle a fait ses études de 1er cycle à l’Institut des sciences du sport et de l’éducation physique de l’Université de Lausanne (Suisse) puis s’est expatriée au Québec pour y effectuer ses études de 2e et 3e cycle en kinésiologie à l’Université Laval. Elle a ensuite complété une 1re formation postdoctorale en activité physique et santé périnatale à l’Université Western Ontario, puis une 2e formation postdoctorale en épigénétique et programmation fœtale à l’Université de Sherbrooke. Elle s’intéresse à la transmission fœto-maternelle des maladies chroniques, et aux moyens de l’atténuer, notamment par l’activité physique. Sa programmation de recherche vise à mieux comprendre l’impact de l’activité physique en période préconception et périnatale sur la santé reproductive, maternelle et néonatale. Elle a développé plus récemment un intérêt pour les sciences comportementales afin mieux comprendre l’adoption et le maintien de la pratique de l’activité physique durant ces périodes. À titre de co-chercheure principale, elle a développé les Directives canadiennes sur l'activité physique durant la grossesse et les Directives canadiennes sur l’activité physique, le comportement sédentaire et le sommeil pour la première année postpartum, ainsi que les Questionnaires Menez une vie plus active pendant la grossesse, disponible en 11 langues, et Menez une vie plus active pendant la période postpartum. Elle a publié près de 80 articles scientifiques dans des revues avec comité de lecture. |

Levi holds a BSc (Hons) in Kinesiology, during which he researched the dietary patterns of undergraduate students. He went on to earn an MSc in Population/Public Health, where he developed a tool to measure neighbourhood-based physical activity. Levi completed his academic journey with a PhD in Epidemiology, exploring the relationship between the built environment and health-related fitness. In addition to his academic achievements, Levi is a Co-Principal Investigator on the Makoyoh’sokoi program, a wholistic, culturally relevant wellness initiative for Indigenous women in urban, rural, and remote communities. He has also served as Co-President for the Calgary Chapter of Obesity Canada and founded the Calgary Student and New Professional Chapter of Obesity Canada. Currently, Levi is the Research Director for the Alberta Kinesiology Association and a member of the Stanford Lifestyle Medicine Program. Beyond his academic and advocacy roles, Levi runs Luxury Nutrition and Fitness, a health blog dedicated to sharing research on physical activity, nutrition, and health with the general public. |

Angelie is the Kinesiologist working with the CHANGE program at UPEI. After graduating from Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS with a BSc degree in Kinesiology, she moved back home to PEI. Over the years, Angelie has worked as a personal trainer, group fitness leader, yoga instructor, Registered Massage Therapist, Certified Exercise Physiologist and Kinesiologist. She enjoys helping individuals find ways to increase their physical activity – building strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility to recover from injuries or manage chronic conditions. Her work with the CHANGE program focuses on individuals with metabolic syndrome, providing education and exercises to increase their physical activity. Using the mantra “some is better than none”, Angelie encourages individuals to move within their ability to improve their health and well-being. Residing in Prince Edward Island with her husband and son, she enjoys exploring new trails and the coastline. She hopes to continue her work with the CHANGE program and educating others on the benefits and joys of physical activity. |

He has 13 years of experience working in a variety of settings from private rehab clinics, wellness and fitness studios, to commercial health and fitness facilities. Inspired by the works of his mentors, Logan has taken the conceptual model of resilience coaching in human movement settings that he spoke about at the 2021 Kin Can Conference and expanded upon it through independent study and research. |

The objective of this presentation is to explain the main causes of femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) and to describe how femoroacetabular deformities affect patients’ movement and biomechanics. Following this session, participants will be able to identify the leading causes of FAIS and recognize the impact of these deformities on patient function.

Dr. Lamontagne earned his PhD in biomedical engineering from the École Polytechnique at the University of Montreal. He is professor emeritus of biomechanics at the School of Human Kinetics, University of Ottawa, with cross-appointments in Mechanical Engineering and Surgery (Faculty of Medicine). Dr. Lamontagne is a recognized leader in biomechanics and orthopaedics. He is one of 100 members of The Hip Society, a fellow of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sport (ISBS) and the International Combined Orthopaedic Research Societies (ICORS), and a past president of the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS). His research focuses on biomedical sciences and biomechanics, with expertise in musculoskeletal modeling of joints, prosthetic and orthotic design, injury prevention, and neuromuscular adaptation. Over his career, he has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and presented over 400 conference papers. For more than 30 years, Dr. Lamontagne secured continuous research funding from NSERC and CIHR, leading major programs on pathological hip and knee joint mechanics. His work earned international recognition, including the 2018 Kappa Delta Elizabeth Winston Lanier Award (ORS) and the Michael Freeman Award (EFORT). Though retired, Dr. Lamontagne remains active in research. His current CIHR-funded project investigates the causes of hip pain in young adults with cam-type femoroacetabular impingement. He is also advancing research on total knee replacement implants, applying 3D motion analysis and musculoskeletal modeling to study mobility and function. |

Saied Jalal Aboodarda earned his PhD in 2012 from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, where he investigated neuromuscular, hormonal, and morphological responses to variable external resistance training. Following his doctoral studies, he pursued postdoctoral research in neurophysiology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, funded by MITACS. During his three-year tenure (until 2015) in the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation, he developed significant expertise in neuromuscular fatigue and human performance research. Subsequently, Jalal completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship (until 2018) under the supervision of Prof. Guillaume Millet in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary, supported by the Eyes High Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. His research during this period focused on elucidating the mechanisms of acute and chronic fatigue in individuals with multiple sclerosis, as well as in healthy young and older adults. |
