The CKA . . . It’s Been a Long Time Coming In taking a historical look back at the development of the profession of kinesiology in Canada and, ultimately, in the development of the Canadian Kinesiology Association, we can see that it actually happened over a relatively short period of time.

HISTORY OF KINESIOLOGY IN NORTH AMERICA

What is the origin of the profession in North America? Simon Fraser University opened in 1967, with the first interdisciplinary kinesiology program in North America (bachelor of science in kinesiology). Apparently, kinesiology was well established in Australia, and that country may have been at the forefront well before Canada was. It is believed the United States was likely to have had a focus in kinesiology prior to Canada as well.
