OTTAWA, November 29, 2020 – As part of the 2020 National Kinesiology Week and the 1st National Virtual Kinesiology Conference – the 2020 Kin Can Conference, presented by Hexfit, that took place from November 23 to 29 – the Canadian Kinesiology Alliance announces the winners of the 1st Canadian Kinesiology Awards, the leading national awards honoring excellence in kinesiology.
The Canadian Kinesiology Alliance Awards are an acknowledgment by peers that the winners are among the very best in their field in the country. Awards were granted for outstanding achievement in the following categories: Kin of the Year, Researcher of the Year, Kinesiology Event of the Year, and Best Speaker of the 2020 Kin Can Conference.

As part of the 2020 National Kinesiology Week, Kinesiologists want to help Canadians develop strategies to move better and live better for their mental and physical health.
OTTAWA, November 23, 2020 – As part of the 2020 National Kinesiology Week, presented by Hexfit, that takes place from November 23 to 29, the Canadian Kinesiology Alliance wishes to remind Canadians that staying physically active is more important than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic. As many Canadians will agree, the first wave took everyone by surprise and for many led to increased stress, anxiety, depression, a sedentary lifestyle, and weight gain. Knowing that happiness can improve the immune system and that obesity is one of the main factors leading to complications related to the coronavirus, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is key, and Kinesiologists can help support both physical and mental health.

The Canadian Kinesiology Alliance / Alliance canadienne de kinésiologie (CKA / ACK) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a partnership with ParticipACTION, a national non-profit organization helping Canadians move more through innovative engagement initiatives and thought leadership. The CKA / ACK, in collaboration with Kinesiologists, will provide ParticipACTION with content through a guest article series consisting of 10 articles per year to be posted in ParticipACTION’s app and promoted through their various communication channels.
ParticipACTION will actively work with the CKA / ACK to grow awareness of the kinesiology practice and the important role it can play to support ParticipACTION’s vision of a Canada where physical activity is a vital part of everyday life. The CKA / ACK encourages Kinesiologists to promote kinesiology services by using ParticipACTION’s app.

CKA Guide to Legislation – Regulatory Process Handbook
As kinesiology proceeds to becoming legislated in each province, the CKA is pleased to present a guide to the regulatory process for provincial kinesiology associations. This handbook will guide PKAs in beginning to get kinesiology legislated.
2020 National Kinesiology Survey
This National Kinesiology Survey gathered information to better define what kinesiology is, who Kinesiologists are, and how kinesiology is practised in Canada, in order to advance, promote, and advocate for kinesiology across the country. A survey of 66 questions was sent to over 4,200 Affiliated Kinesiologists from August 15 to September 30, and then the deadline was extended until December 5, 2020.
